Epikrates

Definition
Second magistrate attested in Athens in 63/62 BC. From Leukonion. Belongs to the the same family as his colleague, the first magistrate, Kallimachos. Most probably herold of the Aeropagos. Epikrates was mentioned by the young Marcus Cicero in a letter to Tiro, named "princeps Atheniensium" (Habicht 1991, p. 16): See M.
